German CSU party wants public company to expand national mobile coverage

The Christian Social Union, the German governing coalition partner of the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and the Social Democrats (SPD), wants to some of the economic stimulus funds under discussion in Germany to support a new public infrastructure company for mobile communications. Around EUR 5 billion would be needed, Handelsblatt reports. The public company would be tasked with providing fast mobile communications throughout Germany in areas where mobile operators don't expand their networks, the report said.
