The Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI) warns that the EU copyright reform could lead to the creation of an oligopoly of providers offering filtering techniques. The current EU copyright reform poses the risk of promoting, as a side effect, the further concentration of data in the hands of an oligopoly of providers, commissioner Ulrich Kelber said in a statement. He is calling for the EU to clarify whether operators can meet the new requirements of the copyright reform without an upload filter.
