German firms to spend up to 7% more on IT security

The recent spate of data and phone interception scandals is encouraging German businesses to invest more on IT security, WirtschaftsWoche magazine reported citing Brandenburg security institute BIGS. It said a survey showed that the security sector will have a 5.6 percent rise in revenue this year, followed by a 6.4 percent increase next year, with IT security spending up as much as 7 percent annually. It said 64 percent of contracts come from the commercial sector. It said the central government is spending an extra EUR 29 million in connection with its digital agenda and the IT security
