German gigabit-ready connections set to rise to 24 million this year

The number of gigabit-capable connections will increase by 5.5 million to 24 million in Germany in the second half of this year, compared with end-2019, according to a study by Dialog Consult and industry group Vatm. The total number will include DOCSIS 3.1 cable connections, FTTB and FTTH lines. More than 600,000 FTTB/H connections will be added in the first half of the year, reaching a total of 4.75 million, and around 3 million of them will have been built by competitors of Deutsche Telekom.
