German govt approves more high-speed broadband grants

Tuesday 26 April 2016 | 22:14 CET | News
Germany's Digital Infrastructure Minister Alexander Dobrindt has approved 106 further funding grants from the multi-billion federal broadband roll-out programme. The communities will receive up to EUR 50,000 to plan a high-speed broadband project and prepare tender documents. In a second phase, the Federal Department for Transport and Digital Infrastructure (BMVI) will allocate up to EUR 15 million to each project to implement the plans. Since the federal broadband grant programme was launched in November 2015, a total of 336 grant applications from communities nationwide have been approved.
