German govt assigns EUR 4.35 bln in funding to broadband

German government representatives have agreed upon the allocation of the EUR 10 billion recovery plan, with EUR 4.35 billion of it to be invested in broadband expansion and road infrastructure between 2016 and 2018. The social democrats also recalled that the proceeds of the frequency auctions should be used for the expansion of faster internet. SPD wants to aim for a nationwide coverage of at least 100 Mbps as the basic supply by 2025.
