German govt funds project to deploy 2,300 km of fibre in northern Saxony-Anhalt

Tuesday 7 July 2020 | 11:11 CET | News
The German Federal Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure has announced that 2,300 km of fibre will be laid over the next few years in the northern part of the state of Saxony-Anhalt. The expansion will benefit more than 30,000 households, almost 2,900 companies and around 770 institutions, including 57 schools that will receive gigabit connections. The fibre-optic network will also support the implementation of intelligent traffic light control and, in the long term, will enable public transport companies to install digital timetables.
