German govt wants a say in Google deletions - report

The German government is in talks with Google with a view to setting up an arbitration centre to deal with applications for personal data to be deleted from the web, Horizont.net reported, citing Handelsblatt. This comes after the EU Court of Justice recently upheld the right to be 'forgotten' if personal information becomes irrelevant. The court said individuals may ask Google to remove any such material based on a search of their name, and obtain court orders to force the removal.
