German handset market forecast down 5.2% in 2009

The German mobile phone market will show a decline this year but should return to growth next year, according to a report from ICT industry association Bitkom. Sales of mobile phones increased 4.4 percent last year, but are expected to decline 5.2 percent this year to 26.3 million units. Bitkom forecast growth of 2.3 percent in 2010, to 26.9 million units. The report is based on data from market research institute EITO.
