German ICT sector calls for better broadband infrastructure

Over half (52%) of German companies in information technology demand a nationwide broadband infrastructure at a download speed of at least 50 Mbps, as well as security for the use of digital services, according to a survey conducted by the Centre for European Economic research (ZEW). Especially media service providers (60%) and IT service providers (55%) stress that urgent action is needed by 2018. Better digital access in rural areas was named by 49 percent of the participating companies. Just over half (51%) of IT companies attach great importance to the aims of the government's Digital
