German internet users increase by 850,000 in 2019 - study

Over 86 percent of Germans aged 16 years old or over used the internet in the past year, an increase of 850,000 users compared to 2018, according to online research institute Afog. The majority (56.7%), or 33.74 million people, were users aged 16-49, while 43.3 percent were aged over 50. In terms of devices, 56.85 million used a smartphone, 42.39 million a laptop or notebook, 28.62 million a tablet and 25.56 million a stationary computer. Almost half (47%) of the users connected to the internet daily, 25 percent multiple times per week and 3 percent multiple times per month.
