German m-payment market worth EUR 1 bln in 2020 - study

Revenue from mobile payment transactions in Germany is forecast to grow from EUR 7.4 million (B2C) currently to over EUR 1 billion in total by 2020, according to a new report from PwC. By 2020, the B2B segment will account for half of transaction revenue. There are currently around 80 companies active in the German mobile payments market. PwC estimates that only 3-5 providers will be able to establish themselves by 2020. The number of mobile payment users is forecast to grow by around 176,000 currently to 11 million in 2020.
