German ministers launch Industry 4.0 platform

German minister for economic affairs and energy Sigmar Gabriel and the minister of education and research Johanna Wanka launched at Cebit the platform Industry 4.0. Following work by industry associations VDMA, ZVEI and Bitkom on the initial frameowkr, the Industry 4.0 will be restructured to increase its political and social relevance. According to minister Wanka, it is important for especially medium-sized businesses to take advantage of new ICT as part of the Industry 4.0 framework. The platform is divided into five work groups focused on reference architecture, standardisation, research
