German online retailers grow despite Amazon dominance

Thursday 18 September 2014 | 10:25 CET | News
Amazon continues to dominate German e-commerce but domestic rivals are growing, too, said Handelsblatt on its website. The newspaper has compiled a last of the top ten German online retailers by revenue in 2013, using data from Statista/EHI. Amazon remained the leader with EUR 5.787 billion revenue. In second place was traditional German mail order company Otto-Versand through its Otto.de website, which had EUR 1.88 revenue in 2013. Zalando.de had a significant rise in sales in 2013 and came third with EUR 703 Millionen revenue.
