German online revenues drop 6.8% to EUR 11 billion - study

German online and mail order revenues amounted to EUR 11 billion in the second quarter of this year, down by 6.8 percent year-on-year, according to German e-commerce federation BEVH citing a survey from market researcher GIM. E-commerce saw revenues of EUR 9.5 billion in the quarter equal to a share of 86.3 percent compared with EUR 10 billion in Q2 2013 and a share of 84.5 percent. The decrease is mostly caused by Germans buying less clothes (-12.1% y-on-y), less shoes (-44%) and books (-23.6%) via e-commerce or mail order services.
