German providers start ddosfrei.de portal

The German Internet Business Federation (eco) introduced the new initiative "ddosfrei.de" to combat distributed denial of service (DDoS) attacks at the IT Summit 2014. According to the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI), more than 3,500 DDoS attacks are carried out each year, and pose one of the biggest threats to IT security in Germany, with rising tendency. The development and operation of a neutral provider-independent information and service portal around DDoS is expected to reduce the security risk, especially for private persons and small and medium-sized enterprises,
