German regulator lowers VAT tax on service numbers

The German Federal Network Agency, Bundesnetzagentur, said it has reduced the VAT on calls to service numbers 0180 and 0137. Jochen Homann, the President of the Federal Network Agency, said that VAT can now be reduced on the telecommunications market, too, which will be a "relief for consumers".  The prefix 0180 may only be used for services such as hotlines.
