German regulator orders mobile providers to charge max EUR 6.82 for number portability

The German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur) has ordered the mobile providers Freenet, 1&1 Drillisch, 1&1 Telecom and Telefonica to a maximum fee of EUR 6.82 instead of the previous EUR 30 for number portability, effective from 20 April. Following the reduction of wholesale fees by the agency for porting mobile phone numbers to EUR 3.58 (net), the mobile operators were asked in mid-February to lower charges for customers.
