German smartphone sales to grow 7.5% in 2016 - Bitkom

Sales of smartphones in Germany reached 26.2 million units in 2015, up 7.4 percent from 2014, according to EITO research released by industry group Bitkom. The sales value increased 22 percent year-on-year to EUR 10.3 billion, breaking the EUR 10 billion mark for the first time. The average price of a smartphone in 2015 was EUR 395, compared to EUR 348 in 2014. Smartphone sales are expected to grow by 7.5 percent in 2016 to reach 28.2 million units, with a sales value of around EUR 10.4 billion. The average price of a smartphone is expected to fall to EUR 370 this year.
