German telecoms industry grows value nearly 4 percent in 2016

The gross value added of the telecommunications and IT industry in Germany rose by 3.8 percent in 2016 to EUR 105 billion, said Germany's Federal Ministry of Economics (BMWi) in its annual monitoring report for the digital economy. The report found that companies' innovation budgets rose to EUR 17.2 billion in 2016, an increase of 18 percent compared with 2015, and over 1.1 million people were employed in the ICT industry.
