German video games market grows 10% in H1 - GfK

The German computer and video games market saw sales grow by 10 percent to EUR 971 million in 1st-half 2016, from EUR 884 million in 1st-half 2015, according to GfK research released by industry group BIU. Sales of games for PCs, consoles, handhelds and mobile devices reached EUR 521 million, down 2.4 percent from EUR 534 million a year earlier. Sales of virtual goods and add-on content (micro-transactions) increased by 20 percent to EUR 317 million in 1st-half 2016. Sales generated by games subscriptions jumped by 26 percent to EUR 82 million, with spending on fee-based online networks
