German VoD revenue to rise 18% in 2017 -- Bitkom

Revenue generated by video on demand services in Germany is expected to hit EUR 945 million in 2017, according to new forecasts from German ICT federation Bitkom. In 2016, the VoD industry had a turnover of EUR 800 million, according to figures released to Bitkom by market researcher IHS Markit. In the coming year, this figure is set to increase by up to 18 percent, Bitkom predicted. Overall in 2016, ad-supported services generated revenue of EUR 369 million, while pay-per-view services brought in EUR 218 million and subscription services grew to EUR 214 million.
