Germans increase landline calls in 2020 for first time in twelve years

The use of the landline to make phone calls in Germany increased for the first time in twelve years in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic, Deutsche Presse Agentur (Dpa) reports. In 2020, Germans spent over 104 billion minutes on landline voice calls, 10 billion more than a year earlier, according to figures from the Federal Network Agency revealed by Dpa. The uptick in the use of fixed line telephony was the result of people spending time at home during the pandemic.
