Germans increasingly follow online discussions of TV shows

Wednesday 26 August 2015 | 10:50 CET | News
Some 27 percent of social media users participate in TV-related online activities on platforms such as Facebook, Twitter as well as communities like Couchfunk while viewing traditional television, according to a recent survey conducted on behalf of IT association Bitkom. It found that 18 percent of social media users passively follow online discussions of what they are watching on TV by reading Facebook comments or what is being said under the programme's Twitter hashtag. Almost one in ten (9%) actively takes part in discussions by posting or sharing content on social media.
