Germans keep personal info off social networks

Some 85 percent of German users of social networks such as Facebook, Xing or Twitter deliberately do not publish certain personal information in order to protect their privacy, according to a recent Bitkom survey among 1,013 internet users above the age of 14, 703 of which are active users of social networks. Almost two-thirds (63%) chose not to disclose their sexual orientation, 45 percent do not post photos of themselves, and 43 do not use their real name.
