Germans prefer to stream videos online - survey

Three quarters (73%) of German internet users stream videos online, equal to around 40 million people, according to research by Aris for industry group Bitkom. By comparison, around 1 in 4 (27%) download videos. Video streaming is widespread across all age groups - 87 percent of 14-29, 78 percent of 30-49, 65 percent of 50-64 year olds and 34 percent of over 65s. Over half (53%) of video streaming users watch videos via portals such as YouTube, Clipfish or Vimeo; with 46 percent using online libraries of TV channels; 37 percent watch live video streams of TV channels; and 19 percent use
