Germans turn to TV as number one source of election news

Television remains the number one source of information during the campaign leading up to the German general election on 26 September, according to a study by GfK on behalf of industry group Deutsche TV-Platform. Almost half of the respondents (49%) watch TV programs very often or often, while 43 percent listen to the radio. Around a third of the respondents turn to print media, internet and social media to seek political information. The latter, however, are particularly popular with younger people between 18 and 29 years of age (62%).
