Germans want more state responsibility for web security yet do not trust it

Monday 21 August 2017 | 12:39 CET | News
Germans are ambiguous about who should have responsibility for web security, said DIVSI, the country's institute for internet security, citing a survey commissioned from Dimap. It said 85 percent of respondents in every age group thought central government should get more involved with internet security, yet 84 percent did not trust the state to be able to protect its citizens. It found 80 percent would favour an official security seal and the same rate said they would like to see a state agency with responsibility for web safety matters.
