Germany allows police intercept of encrypted messages

The German parliament has passed legislation allowing police to intercept encrypted messages. Under the new rules, law enforcement authorities can install a 'state trojan' or malware on smartphones, tablets and computers that lets them read WhatsApp messages and other personal communication using encryption. This will allow both real-time access to messages as well as access to any messages stored on the device. The government, which proposed the law, said the change is needed to keep up with terrorists and other criminals, who mostly communicate online and not via phone calls anymore,
