Germany awards 150 broadband grants to local authorities

Germany's Federal Ministry for Transport and Digital Infrastructure has handed over a further 150 grants for funding faster broadband. Municipalities and counties with underserved areas receive up to EUR 50,000 each to plan expansion projects for fast internet and to submit applications for federal subsidies to the projects. The latter are worth up to EUR 15 million per project. Over 1,900 applications for the grants have been submitted since the programme started in November 2015.
