Germany counts 2.65 mln households with internet below 30 Mbps at end-2019

The German government said that 2.65 million households had internet connections with speeds below 30 Mbps at the end of 2019, according to a reply to a parliamentary enquiry by the liberal party FDP. The federal broadband funding programme supports projects that connect around 2.50 million households, the government said. The government re-launched the federal funding programme in 2018 to expand gigabit connections with fibre-optic technology, and the projects are now being implemented.
