Germany opens gigabit broadband plan for schools

Germany has opened its federal EUR 4 billion broadband roll-out program for connecting schools as well. Federal Minister Alexander Dobrindt, responsible for digital infrastructure, launched the Digital class room initiative enabling schools to request broadband subsidies to ensure broadband connections with gigabit speeds. The program is open for every school, even those with 30 Mbps connections as schools need to be able to offer the best digital curriculum possible. The federal broadband funding guide will be expanded with clarifications for schools that want funding and ongoing
