Germany to build out digital ticketing network by 2019

German federal transport minister Alexander Dobrindt has announced plans to roll out standardised electronic ticketing across bus and train networks nationwide by 2019. Under the programme, an interconnected system will be introduced across Germany to avoid the creation of "island solutions" by individual providers or transport authorities, Dobrindt said according to a report in Online Kosten. Around 370 transport providers have signed up to the initiative "eTicket Deutschland".
