Germany's Ennepe-Ruhr district receives state grant for broadband roll-out

Tuesday 19 December 2017 | 11:14 CET | News
The Ennepe-Ruhr district in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia has received a grant of nearly EUR 9 million from the state government for the roll-out of broadband. The district now has EUR 18 million at its disposal to expand broadband, including the EUR 9 million of federal funding it received this August. It expects that up to 95 percent of households in the district will have an internet connection at 50 Mbps by the end of 2019 and that tenders for expansion works will be held in late summer 2018 at the earliest.
