Germany's Gabriel to meet Google's Schmidt in October

Minister for Economic Affairs Sigmar Gabriel will meet Google CEO Eric Schmidt at an in-house event in October, Der Spiegel magazine reported. It said observers expects answers to the question of how seriousl Gabriel is about his claim that he wants to break up the US technology concern. The ministry said there will be an open debate. The government's digital agenda is due to be presented on 20 August, and it could include measures against non-European internet companies with dominant positions, said Der Spiegel.
