Ghana mobile money firms row with banks on interest payments

Ghanaian telecoms operators and banks are in a dipute over how to pay interest to mobile money customers as per the requirement of the new Electronic Money Issuers (EMI) Guidelines. According to Adom News, the banks want to pay 100 percent of the interests directly to the mobile money customers, but the telecom operators want the banks to pay the funds to them, so that they can pay 80 percent to customers and keep 20 percent for their operations.
