Ghana operators spent USD 4.5 mln on fibre cuts in 2018, seek infrastructure protection

The Ghanaian Telecommunications Chamber wants the infrastructure of its members to be treated as critical national assets, as they suffer damage to fibre-optic cables, Ghanaweb reported. It says the operators spent USD 4.5 million on fixing damage to fibre in 2018. Ken Ashigbey, CEO of the Telecoms Chamber, said this is seriously impeding expansion.
