Ghanaian NCA lets telecom firms send official Covid-19 information texts, wants related calls routed free to 112

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has granted AirtelTigo, Glo, MTN and Vodafone a waiver to send emergency communications from the Ghana Health Service (GHS) regarding the Covid-19 pandemic. The NCA said mobile network operators (MNOs) have thus been directed to ensure that they only send emergency communications provided by the GHS to their subscribers.
