Irish operator Eir announced that Singapore's sovereign wealth fund GIC plans to buy up to EUR 230 million of the Group's shares, at a price of EUR 232 per share, from existing shareholders. Smaller shareholders will be given the chance to participate in the sale so as to facilitate a liquidity event for them. Completion of the deal will be conditional upon the approval of certain matters by shareholders at an EGM of holding company Eircom Holdco by end-June. Following the transaction, Anchorage Capital Group will remain as eir's largest shareholder with over 35 percent of the group's shares.
