GigNet invests MXN 224 mln to bring fibre to Mexico's Riviera Maya

Mexican operator GigNet, the Cancun-based subsidiary of Cobalt Holdings, has announced plans to roll out a 180-kilometre fibre optic network in the Riviera Maya region on the country's Caribbean coast, reports La Jornada Maya. The new MXN 224 million network will stretch from Playa Mujeres to Tulum and will be focused on bringing fast internet access to the area's hotel industry and its 23 million-plus annual visitors.
