Global semiconductor market grows 12.5% in 2018, Samsung leads on memory demand

Worldwide semiconductor revenue grew 12.5 percent in 2018 to USD 474.6 billion, according to final results by Gartner. The market researcher said growth slowed from 21.9 percent in 2017 due to the slowdown in the memory market. This effect is expected to continue in 2019, putting Samsung's top position in the chip market at risk, the market researcher said.
