Global spend on cognitive/AI tech up to USD 12.5 bln this yr

Worldwide revenues for cognitive and artificial intelligence (AI) systems are set to reach USD 12.5 billion this year, a 59.3 percent increase over 2016, according to a report from IDC. Corporate interest in developing and implementing cognitive/AI software platforms is such that spending on the corresponding technologies will continue to rise at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 54.4 percent through 2020 when revenues will be more than USD 46 billion, said the report.
