Global spend on ON equipment falls to USD 3.8 bln- study

Global spending on optical networking (ON) equipment declined in the second quarter from the year before, with the respective 6 percent and 19 percent growth in Asia-Pacific and South & Central America (SCA) not able to offset falls elsewhere, data from Ovum revealed. Spending in the quarter fell 8 percent to USD 3.8 billion, the second year-on-year drop in a row. The decline was driven by spending softness in North America and EMEA, each down 19 percent to USD 876 million and USD 950 million respectively.
