Global tablet shipments hit 78.5 mln in Q4

In the fourth quarter of last year, some 78.45 million tablets were shipped worldwide, up 25 percent from the third quarter and up 29.8 percent year-on-year. Apple iPads accounted for 29.7 percent of shipments and brand models other than Apple represented 36.6 percent. Models offered by white-box vendors took up 33.8 percent of shipments, according to Digitimes Research. Of the total tablet shipments, 51.2 percent runs on Android, 44.9 percent runs on Apple's iOS, and 3.9 percent runs on Windows. Among vendors, Apple had the largest global market share at 29.7 percent, followed by Samsung
