Global VR headset shipments to exceed 21 mln in 2019

VR headset shipments will reach 54 million by 2023, up from an estimated 21 million this year, according to a study from Juniper Research. This is a growth of 160 percent, as demand increases following an underwhelming year for VR in 2018. The research found that Sony PlayStation VR will drive console-based VR to become the fastest growing market over the next 4 years, in comparison to the smartphone and PC-based sectors. However, Google will remain the leading VR headset vendor, accounting for 27 percent of global shipments by 2023. Sony will account for nearly 18 percent of total VR headset
