Gmail access partially restored in China

Gmail access is partially restored in China, according to some reports as well as Google's real-time traffic charts, reported TechCrunch. A multi-day outage occurred just after Christmas, when Gmail users were blocked from using a workaround that allowed them to download their messages through third-party apps such as Apple Mail and Microsoft Outlook which use POP, SMAP and IMAP. The latest shutdown seemed to have closed that final loophole, blocking Gmail almost entirely in the country.
