GMX, Web.de enhance e-mail security with DANE

German e-mail providers GMX and Web.de, both United Internet subsidiaries, have implemented the DANE network protocol for enhanced security. DANE checks the authenticity of e-mail encryption certificates before making a connection, improving secure transport between e-mail servers and stopping third parties from accessing the messages. With immediate effect, Web.de and GMX are encrypting all e-mails automatically with DANE, as long as the recipient supports this security technology too.
