Google, Bertelsmann launch EU mobile skills initiatives

Google has teamed up with German media and education group Bertelsmann to launch a training programme that aims to close the mobile digital skills gap in Europe. In a joint statement the partners announced a number of mobile development initiatives, with Google committing to fund 10,000 Android Developer training scholarships across the EU via e-learning provider Udacity. At the same time, Bertelsmann will start shifting skill-building and training budgets across its about 1,000 businesses towards ICT, in conjunction with Udacity's training programmes.
