Google buys no-code app development platform AppSheet

Wednesday 15 January 2020 | 11:50 CET | News
Google has bought AppSheet, a no-code application development platform, saying the deal will help people more easily create and extend applications, with no need for professional coding skills. Google said that AppSheet, combined with Google Cloud, will help the company “reimagine the application development space” and further help the digital transformation of financial services, manufacturing, retail, healthcare, communication, media & entertainment and other industries.

Specifically, users will be able to develop richer applications at scale using Google Sheets and Forms as well as Android, Maps and Google Analytics. Users will also be able to still integrate with cloud-hosted data sources such as Salesforce, Dropbox, AWS DynamoDB and MySQL.

No financial details were disclosed. AppSheet is headed by CEO Praveen Seshadri.
