Google expands plans for San Jose mega-campus

Google has sent a new application for its second headquarters in San Jose, California, with plans for larger premises, CNBC reported, citing a new filing. The plans are now for 7.3 million square feet of office space, more than 6.5 million originally laid out in August. The application now also cites up to 5,900 units of new housing, against the 5,000 units previously described. Company spokesperson Michael Appel told CNBC that the filing is for extra flexibility: just because the company increased ranges, it won't necessarily develop that maximum space.
